Doyle Jones Sr

Jones Sr., Doyle, 79, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2016.
He graduated from Bellarmine University with a B. S. in Business Commerce. He retired after 36 years at General Electric as Manager of Materials for Louisville, KY, Sterling, IL, and Juarez, Mexico. He was the Owner and Proprietor of Jones Grocery on 13th and Chestnut as well as Jones Supermarket on 22nd and Grand Ave.
He was a member of Corinthian Baptist Church, Trustee and Church Treasurer, Emeritus President of Corinthian Development Corp. and US Navy Veteran. He served on the following Boards of Directors: YMCA Chestnut St - Black Achievers, ECHO, Kosair Kids Center, and Cerebral Palsy Foundation.
Doyle served as a former 33rd Shriner - 28th Street Masonic Temple, a member of Leadership Louisville, and a Bingham Fellow. He was also a member of HOPE, Self Help, a Junior Achievement Program Volunteer, GE Elfun Volunteer, GE - AAF, Lincoln Foundation, and UofL Beta - Black Engineers.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Juanita Jones; children, Petronia Belmar (Lester), Doyle Jones, Jr., LaVerne Fubara (Edward), Andrea Jones-Sojola (Phumzile); sister, Vernell Peoples; god child, Dr. Tamala Foster; 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends.
Visitation: Friday, 5pm - 8pm & Funeral: Saturday 11am, Corinthian Baptist Church - 1916 W. Jefferson St, Louisville. Burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens East - 11601 Ballardsville Rd., Louisville.
