Roger Edward Wilson

Roger Edward Wilson, 80, a resident of Louisville, Kentucky since 2007, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024.  He was born January 1, 1944, to the late Ed Wilson and Myrtle Henderson in Cincinnati, Ohio.  

Roger grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio.  He worked for Philip Carey Corporation while attending University of Cincinnati.  He met and married Frances Wilson in 1966.  Roger served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in December 1969.  A Vietnam Veteran, he was awarded two Army accommodations metals; one for Valor in Combat and also a Bronze Star.  Roger worked for John Morrell Corporation in Cincinnati, Ohio for 35 years, he retired in 2006.

Roger was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions including a Financial Clerk, Family History Consultant, High Priest Teacher and Temple Ordinance Worker.  He was  volunteer worker for North Bethesda Hospital and a member of the McMakin Lodge No. 120 and The Scottish Rite.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Vernon Roy; and a sister, Shirley Conley.

Roger is survived by his wife, Frances Ridder Wilson; sons: Garth Wilson and wife, Jennifer of Columbus, Ohio; Edward Wilson and wife Jennifer of Rigby, Idaho; daughters: Charlotte Huxel and husband, Kent of Hebron, Kentucky; Nicole Myers and husband, Justin of Kingwood, Texas; and 18 grandchildren.

A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 22, 2024 at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Homes East, 11601 Ballardsville Road.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m.  Interment will be at Arlington Memorial Gardens, 2145 Compton Road  Cincinnati, Ohio, on Tuesday, July 23, 2024.
