Robert Calvert Sr

Robert Lewis "Bob" Calvert Sr., 91, husband of Sallie Sorrow Calvert, passed away October 27, 2015 at Baptist Health Louisville. He was born in Honea Path, South Carolina November 26, 1923 the son of the late Robert L. & Pearl Rogers Calvert. Bob was a Clemson University graduate, a World War II Veteran having served in the U.S. Navy on an LST landing craft and was a member of Audubon Park United Methodist Church. He was also a retired plant manager for Louisville Textiles.
Besides his wife of 66 years he leaves to cherish his memory five daughters, Louise Calvert Cobb, Judy Coates (Rex), Kitty Daunhauer, Paula Lynn Shackelford (Mike) and Nita Blevens (Donnie), four sons, Bobby Calvert (Sharon), Tom Calvert (Lisa), Jimmy Calvert (Connie) and Carl Calvert (Anne). One sister, Mattie Browning, sixteen grandchildren, Bobby Lee, Michael (Jessica), David, Becky (Travis), Justin (Stephanie), Rebecca (Jake), Jackie (Drew), Jill (Ben), Kenny (Amy), Ashley, Samantha (Justin), Emily, Hannah, Melissa, Ryan and Cade, 17 great grandchildren, Kenneth, Nikki, Robert, Hunter, Hadley, Henley, Hayes, Pearl, Avery, Charlie, Lila, Mary David, Carter, Caleb, Andy, Bentlee and Beau also survive. Preceding him in death was one brother, Thomas Calvert and son-in-law, Perry Daunhauer.
A service celebrating Bob's life will be held 11:00 am Saturday at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Home East, 11601 Ballardsville Road. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to Cedar Lake Lodge or Audubon Park United Methodist Church.
