Richard Alan Koch, 72, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed on June 27, 2024. Rick was born on August 3, 1951, to William and Joyce Koch. Rick went on to live a beautiful life, filled with fond family moments and lots of love.
Rick met the love of his life, Rebecca Koch (Vogt), in a serendipitous way at The Pancake House, and their adventures continued for 47 years. Through the years, Rick spent his life dedicated to his family – boating, camping, golfing, fishing, and especially loved teaching his grandsons life lessons. Rick was a proud Navy Veteran, like his father, and loved telling tales of his submarine days. Many likely remember his “famous” story of breaking through ice at the North Pole. After retiring from Graft-Pelle Co. in 2019, Rick enjoyed extra Papa time to his grandsons. We will always remember Rick for his zeal for life and caring heart.
Rick will be lovingly remembered by his wife Becky Koch, son Andrew Koch (Julie), daughter Allison Garrett (Elgin), grandsons Jared Koch and Sterling Garrett, brother Steve Koch, and many other relatives, friends and neighbors. Rick was preceded in death by his father, William F. Koch, mother, Joyce Offutt, and brother, Lawrence Koch.
A visitation will be held at Louisville Memorial Gardens East, 11601 Ballardsville Road, on Monday, July 1, 3:00 - 8:00 p.m., with a Memorial Service at 7. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Tunnels to Towers Foundation or University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center.
