Paul Rumbaugh

Rumbaugh, Paul E., 97, of Louisville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at the Forum at Brookside.

He was born February 23, 1919 in New Castle, PA, a son of the late Edward Rumbaugh and Martha McCoy Rumbaugh.

Paul received his B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering from Penn State University. He worked for the Glenn L. Martin Co. during WWII as a management engineer and continued his career in wood working and furniture manufacturing. Paul was vice president and member of the board of directors of Gravely Furniture Company in Martinsville, VA.

In 1959 he joined Kroehler Manufacturing Company and he and his family moved to Louisville, where he was vice president and general manager of their case goods division. In 1968 he worked for H.J. Sheirich Company and was manager of New Product Development and vice president and general manager of their vinyl division. Paul was active in several woodworking associations and organizations and received several industry awards during his lifetime.

Paul was a charter member and past president of Hunting Creek Country Club, where he and his wife "Dotty", enjoyed socializing, playing golf and bowling. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing in Kentucky as well as other places in the country. He was a former member of Calvin Presbyterian Church and a member of the choir.

Stuart, FL was his retirement home. He loved his time there immensely six months out of every year and was a board member of his condominium association.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Dorothy Jean Sheaffer Rumbaugh; daughter, Martha Kay Rumbaugh; three brothers, Edward, Howard and Roy Rumbaugh and a sister, Jane Smith.

Paul is survived by two daughters, Linda R. Pollitt (Samuel), Betty Ann Rumbaugh; grandchildren, Leslie Pollitt Kohn (Sam), Beth Ann Tinsley (Kyle) and Sarah Jean Pollitt; great-grandchildren, Adlai, Elliott and Charles Kohn and Skylar, Zoe & Tuck Samuel Tinsley.

A family memorial service will be held at a later date. Entombment will be in Louisville Memorial Gardens East. Expressions of sympathy can be made to your charity of choice .
