Melanie Elaine Moser

January 5, 1945 — July 2, 2019

Louisville

Melanie Elaine Moser passed away on July 2, 2019.  She died at home surrounded by family.

She is survived by her daughter Paige Collins MacBeth, sons James Perry Collins, Jr. and Bo Laughlin, Jr. as well as her companion of 30 years, Gary Lee Rice and her brother Victor Moser. She was preceded in death by her young sister Janet Neva Moser. She had 8 grandchildren that she was very, very proud of and loved very much.

She was born in Charlotte, NC to Neva Louise Lewis and Lawrence Dillon Moser. She grew up in Charlotte near the Plaza.  Many of her relatives lived in Monroe, and she loved visiting her Grandmother’s farm there where she enjoyed having food fresh off the vine.

After marrying James P. “Jim” Collins, Sr., she moved to Louisville, KY where she raised her children and remained there until her death.  Charlotte was her hometown and it is only fitting that she returns there to be put to rest beside her parents and sister.

Mother was a beautiful, tough and independent lady.  She survived breast cancer, quadruple bypass heart surgery, and skin cancer but the brain cancer took her life.

A special thank-you to her daughter-in-law Diana who gave her loving attention and care as she battled her illness for the past several weeks.

A graveside memorial service will be held at Sharon Memorial Cemetery later this month. She remained in contact with her friends from Garinger High School and Hawthorne Junior High.  Perhaps most of her best memories were from her school days.  She would be pleased to know they came to visit one last time.
