Kenneth S. Hansson, 88, entered heaven on Monday, February 12, 2018. His beloved wife of 62 years, Evelyn, passed away two weeks earlier, on January 29, 2018.
He served a total of eight years in the Swedish and U.S. Air Forces.
Kenneth was an educator and dean at Eastern Kentucky University from 1966 - 1991. His early education took place in Sweden. After immigrating to America in 1952, he completed his B.S. degree at the University of Missouri in 1960, and his M.S. degree and PhD at Southern Illinois University in 1964 and 1966.
He served a term as President of the National Association of Industrial Technology while at EKU. Being dedicated to his Christian faith, he was active in volunteer and church work throughout his life. Kenneth's Swedish heritage was very dear to him and led him to serve ten years as President of the Scandinavian Heritage Society of Kentucky.
Kenneth was preceded in death by three brothers, Ingemar, Lars, and Allan. He is survived by daughters Karen (Bruce) Windsor and Kristena (Kent) Robinson, grandchildren Andrew Robinson, Nathan (Chelsea) Robinson, Jenny (Andrew) Hornback, Joel and Elias Flygare, and three great-granddaughters. Siblings include Lilian Hansson, Anita (Sven Olav) Larsson, Solveig (Stig) Lundstrom, Lennart (Carin) Hansson, Roland (Ulla) Hansson, Birgitta Hermansson, Glenn (Ingegard) Hansson, Marita (Rune) Carlsson, and Doris Hansson. Kenneth also had a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins in Sweden and America.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 15, 2018, 9:30-12:30, with the Memorial Service at 12:30, Covenant United Methodist Church in LaGrange, KY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Covenant Church.
