James Richard Rapier, 88, husband of Darlene Lewis Rapier, left his family and friends on December 11, 2020 at Baptist Health in Louisville after a long courageous battle with COPD.
He was born July 28, 1932 the son of the late Francis & Margaret Beam Rapier.
Jim spent forty plus years in the death care industry, where he was known as the “Culture Warrior”, and made a positive impact on many who chose a career in the field themselves.
Before his retirement he was a partner in Saber Management, had been Vice President of Sales at Louisville Memorial Gardens and had served as manager of Florida Memorial Gardens and Tippecanoe Memory Gardens in Lafayette, Indiana.
Jim enjoyed his family and friends so much, especially his golfing buddies, for many years. Jim was also a U.S. Navy Veteran having served as a medic.
Besides his loving wife he is survived by his children, David (Debbie) Rapier, Mike (Cindy) Rapier, Annette Rapier, Amy (Andy) Mathis and his grandchildren who were always in his heart. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Terry, Rick, Joy and Shari, who always enjoyed spending time with him.
Due to Covid 19 a private entombment was held at Louisville Memorial Gardens East. The family request everyone attend his memorial service so all that loved him so much may share memories and remember his life that was so well lived.
