Gary Banta

Gary Neil Banta, 69, of Louisville, husband of Rebecca Banta, died Monday, January 2, 2017 at Norton Brownsboro Hospital. He was born in Shelbyville July 29, 1947 the son of the late Oliver Banta and Mary Ruth Yeary. Gary was a retired electrical engineer and had currently worked at Cabela's in the firearms department. He loved gardening and was an avid hunter.
Besides his wife of 50 years he leaves to cherish his memory 2 sons, Keith Banta (Angie) and Brian Banta (Tracy), sister, Pamela Pridemore (Gary) and 5 grandchildren, Neil, Kaitlynn, Nicholas, Jessica and Jacob. Many nieces, nephews, other family and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by 1 sister, Lindora B. Willard (Tommy).
A service celebrating Gary's life will be held 10:00 am Saturday at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Home East, 11601 Ballardsville Rd., Louisville. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 8 at the funeral home.
The family has requested memorial donations to the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife, #1 Sportsmans Lane, Frankfort, Ky. 40601
