Doris Ann White

March 17, 1937 — July 14, 2024

Doris White, 87 of Louisville passed away at her home on Sunday, July 14, 2024, after a short illness. She was born in Columbus, Ohio to Richard and Esther Watts but spent most of her life in Louisville. Doris attended Drake University and took her first job in the bookkeeping department of Louisville’s International Harvester. During this time, she met the love of her life Bob, and they married in 1963.


Their relationship spanned over 60 years and was one of the greatest joys of Doris’ life. She spent much of her career working side by side with Bob in their State Farm Insurance Agency.


Together they founded several Louisville businesses including Bluegrass Wallpaper Outlets and the Oxmoor Center mainstaysBalcony Pizzeria and Putters Park Golf & Game Room. Doris was extraordinary in her role of devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who never missed an opportunity to laugh and make all in her orbit know that they were loved. She is predeceased by her husband Bob, brother Dick Watts, and sister Eleanor Blocker. Doris is survived by her son, Richard White (Jamie) of Louisville; daughter, Terri Meagher (Paul) of Scottsburg, Indiana; Grandchildren, Harper White of Cambridge, MA, Mitchell Meagher of Nashville TN, AnneMarie Meagher, Megan Richey, Lauren Richey (James) and 5 great-grandchildren, all of Scottsburg. A private memorial and graveside service will be held at Louisville Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hosparus Health of Louisville and the Dare to Care food bank.
