Delina Gale Naelitz, 71, of Crestwood, Kentucky, passed away May 4th, 2022, at home with her loving husband by her side. Gale was born December 7, 1950, in Ft. Knox, Kentucky, to the late James Jerome and Daisy Marie (Black) Henry.
Gale was born with a servant’s heart and lived to serve others, especially her children and their friends. She was fortunate enough to be granted with the title of “cool mom” to her son Robert’s friends. There was never an empty belly or a want for anything by anyone within the walls of her home or heart. Gale married her husband, Robert, on July 16, 1979, at St. Peters Catholic Church in Lorain, Ohio and they were blessed with a marriage of 42 years. Gale was the head of the PTA, worked as a cosmetologist and worked for Ford Motor Company and was a member of UAW Local 425 and 1250. Her greatest accomplishment in her professional career was being a bus driver for Elyria, Ohio Schools and Oldham County, the latter she received an award for bus driver of the year; this she held very closely to her heart.
Gale was preceded in death by her parents and her very close friends, JoAnn and Gerald Heckman.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; her daughter Shannon Naelitz; her son, Robert Naelitz (Brittany); her grandchildren, Robert Naelitz and Kaitlyn Whalen; her great grandson Kason Whalen; and her brothers, John Henry, Jerry Henry, Wynn Henry and Larry Henry; and close friends Valerie and Jerry Heckman.
A celebration of Gale’s life will be held at 2PM on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Home East, 11601 Ballardsville Road. A memorial gathering will be the same day from Noon until service time at the funeral home.
