Byron Heil

Byron William Heil passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, January 15, 2022 at the age of 72. Byron had a passion for music and proudly served as the director of worship and music for St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church until his retirement in June 2020. He enjoyed his work with the church choir and had many musical friends. Byron cherished his family more than anything, especially his grandchildren that he adored.

Byron is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Jane Ann Heil (Kegebein); daughters, Sarah (Chris) Huffaker, Shena (Jim) Obst, Sheryl (Tim) Vogel; son, Francis Heil; grandchildren, Aaron, Lyla, Maxwell and 1 on the way; sisters, Judy Christopher and Connie (Richard) Gescheidt; and brother, Nick (Sally) Heil.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 from 4 – 7 pm at Louisville Memorial Gardens East Funeral Home, 11601 Ballardsville Rd. Louisville, KY 40241. Additional visitation will take place on Wednesday, January 19th from 1 pm until the Mass of Christian Burial at 2 pm, all at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 7813 Shelbyville Rd. Louisville, KY 40222. Burial will immediately follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens East. If desired, memorial donations may be made in Byron’s name to the music program at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church.
