Brenda L. Bowman, 73, of Louisville, KY passed away peacefully surrounded by family on February 11, 2022 at Audubon Hospital following a short battle with cancer.
Brenda was born in Louisville, KY, the daughter of the late Eugene and Alma Harp. Brenda worked and played hard her entire life. She retired as an apartment manager and loved to travel, listen to music, watch TV (especially Days of our Lives), read daily devotionals and socialize. Brenda was an inspiration to anyone who was lucky enough to love her. Courage, strength, and outspoken nature were some of her best traits. Brenda’s freewill led her to sobriety in 2014. She was a mighty blessing to the AA community and became family to many. Love, hope and faith were given to so many-that it’s never too late to change.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Billy Harp; love of her life, Danny Reynolds and nephews, Jerry and David Graves. Brenda is survived by her daughter, Melissa Byrd; granddaughters, Jessica and Ariel; great-grandsons, Eli and Rowan and sister, Carole Clites. She especially grew fond of Jeffrey Ellis and the family would like to thank him for all the unconditional love that was shown until the end. Brenda had many long-term friends; however, Jackie Crane was the “Best Friend”. The family would also like to thank Melanie (her daughter) for all the tender loving, patient care that was provided. You honored your mother by being an angel to her best friend in her absence. Lastly, the family would like to thank the handful of staff at Audubon who did their job with love.
Brenda’s wishes have been honored and cremation has taken place. A private ceremony will be held on Cumberland Island, Georgia at a later date. Memorial donations may be sent to stop modern day slavery at The Operation Underground Railroad at www.ourrescue.org
