Velma Robinson Secrist, 77, of Crestwood, passed away February 6, 2016, after a valiant battle with cancer
Velma was a retired nurse, working at Friendship Manor in Pewee Valley most recently from the mid-80's until 1999 when she retired. She continued serving her community as a volunteer with the Red Cross blood mobile, health fairs, local schools and the Pewee Valley SDA Church where she was a member.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Darwin Secrist, mother Lucille Henson Robinson, as well as brothers George and William Robinson.
She is survived and deeply missed by her beloved family: daughters Nancy Secrist Chesney (Duane) and Cindy Secrist Rima (Don), granddaughter Alexandra, brother Don Robinson (Betty), sisters Ann Warren and Faye Robinson, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family. Velma and Darwin worked in hospitals, clinics, and wherever God called them in KY, TN, MS, and Honduras.
NOTE CHANGE IN FUNERAL TIME. Funeral Service 11 AM Friday at Pewee Valley Seventh Day Adventist Chruch, followed by burial in Louisville Memorial Garden East.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being set up to help sponsor/support nursing students.
